Open Internet Policy
Our commitment to a free and open Internet for all subscribers.
Effective Date: July 1, 2025
1. Introduction
SecureNet Fiber is committed to providing an open and transparent Internet experience for all of our subscribers. We operate a 100% fiber-optic network designed to deliver fast, reliable, and unrestricted Internet access to homes and businesses across our service areas.
This Open Internet Policy describes our network management practices, performance characteristics, and commercial terms in accordance with the principles of Internet openness and transparency. We believe that our subscribers should have the freedom to access the lawful content, applications, and services of their choice without interference.
2. Open Internet Principles
SecureNet Fiber adheres to the following principles to ensure an open Internet experience for our subscribers:
2.1 No Blocking
SecureNet does not block lawful content, applications, services, or non-harmful devices. We do not prevent our subscribers from accessing any lawful website, application, or online service. We do not block the use of any non-harmful device on our network.
2.2 No Throttling
SecureNet does not throttle, impair, or degrade lawful Internet traffic on the basis of content, application, service, user, or use of a non-harmful device. We do not selectively slow down specific types of traffic or specific websites and services. All lawful traffic on our network is treated equally.
2.3 No Paid Prioritization
SecureNet does not engage in paid prioritization. We do not accept payment from third parties -- whether content providers, application developers, or other entities -- in exchange for faster or preferential delivery of their traffic to our subscribers. We do not create Internet "fast lanes" or "slow lanes" based on commercial arrangements.
2.4 Device Choice
SecureNet subscribers are free to connect any lawful, non-harmful device to our network. While SecureNet provides managed equipment (ONT and router) as part of our service, subscribers may use their own compatible devices in accordance with our equipment policies. SecureNet is not responsible for the performance or compatibility of subscriber-owned equipment.
2.5 Transparency
SecureNet is committed to providing clear and accurate information about our network management practices, service performance, and commercial terms. This Open Internet Policy, along with our broadband nutrition labels and other disclosures on our website, is intended to give our subscribers the information they need to make informed decisions about their Internet service.
3. Network Management Practices
SecureNet employs reasonable network management practices to ensure the security, integrity, and optimal performance of our network for all subscribers. These practices are applied in a content-neutral and non-discriminatory manner.
Our network management practices include:
- Security: We take measures to protect our network and subscribers from malicious activity, including denial-of-service attacks, malware, viruses, and other security threats. This may include blocking traffic identified as malicious and filtering known security threats at the network level.
- Congestion management: Our fiber-optic network is designed to provide ample capacity for our subscribers. In the rare event of network congestion, we may employ standard, content-neutral techniques to manage traffic and ensure fair access for all users. We do not single out specific applications, services, or users for congestion management.
- Maintenance: We perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on our network infrastructure. Scheduled maintenance may occasionally result in brief service interruptions. We make reasonable efforts to schedule maintenance during off-peak hours and to notify affected subscribers in advance.
- Compliance: We comply with applicable laws, regulations, and court orders, including lawful requests from law enforcement agencies. We may block or restrict access to specific content or services when required by law.
4. Performance Characteristics
SecureNet Fiber delivers Internet service over a dedicated fiber-optic connection to each subscriber's premises. Our network is designed to provide symmetrical or near-symmetrical upload and download speeds, low latency, and high reliability.
Key performance characteristics of our service include:
- Speed: Service speeds are provided on an "up to" basis. Actual speeds may vary based on factors including network conditions, the number of devices connected, the quality of in-home wiring and equipment, the performance of the websites and services you access, and overall Internet traffic conditions. For typical speed ranges and other details, please refer to the broadband nutrition labels available on our residential and business plan pages.
- Latency: Our fiber-optic network is designed to provide low-latency connectivity. Typical latency on our network is generally under 10 milliseconds for traffic within our network. Latency to destinations outside our network depends on the routing path and the performance of other networks.
- Reliability: We design and maintain our network to provide high availability and uptime. For current network status and performance information, please visit our network status page.
5. Commercial Terms
SecureNet Fiber offers residential and business service plans at various speed tiers and price points. Full details about our plans, pricing, and fees are available on our website and in our broadband nutrition labels.
Key commercial terms include:
- No data caps: SecureNet does not impose data usage caps or allowances on any of our Internet service plans. Our subscribers enjoy truly unlimited data.
- No overage charges: Because we do not cap data usage, there are no overage fees or penalties for heavy usage.
- Pricing: Monthly service fees are based on the plan you select. Current pricing is listed on our residential and business plan pages. Prices are subject to change with 30 days' written notice.
- Fees: For a complete list of fees and charges that may apply to your account, please refer to the broadband nutrition labels on our plan pages or contact us for more information.
